Ishara Puppet Theatre was founded in Delhi in the year 1986 by Dadi Pudumjee. The theatre is a registered Trust. Ishara works with a core group of puppeteers, artists, actors and dancers, incorporating puppets, masks and objects. Ishara's product- ions range from visual poems and folklore; to satire, including television and educational prog- rammes.
 
Puppets and actors coalesce, creating stories and ideas based on texts, poems, literature and life situations. Music plays an integral role in these performances. Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust is known as one of India's innovative modern puppet groups. The group has evolved through the years with Puppeteers, tradition- al artists, actors and dancers, creating a language of gesture "ISHARA".
